ENGAGE Sunday programming is held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month; no regular Sunday service is offered. ENGAGE is an acronym for: Explore, No Boundaries, Gather, Activism, Go! Be the Change, and Educate. The acronym defines the purpose of these Sundays. These Sundays are an opportunity for members and friends of Prairie Lakes UU Fellowship to initiate and lead programs, projects, events, etc. The intent of this schedule allows greater flexibility and a broader platform to present topics that interest our Fellowship. Many programs last for multiple Sundays, even several months, allowing in-depth exploration and discussion.
As Unitarian Universalists, our ‘spirituality’ goes beyond regular Sunday services; we believe education and personal growth are acquired through various formats and experiences. We are not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ group. We are seekers and questioners. We thrive in and grow from diversity. We find our own path and spiritual growth which is essential to our personal development.
Examples of recent ENGAGE Sunday programming:
- presentation and discussion with local Muslim families
- workdays to prepare for Youth Summer Camp
- social justice writing campaign
- book discussion: A People’s History of the United States, by Howard Zinn
- meditation workshop
- documentary and discussion: Inner Worlds Outer Worlds
- annual meeting
