Fellowship Covenant
Prairie Lakes Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
Congregational Covenant
Adopted May 15, 2011
By embodying a culture of civility, respect, and caring, the Prairie Lakes Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will be a spiritual home and church community where members, friends, and visitors feel encouraged and supported in spiritual practice, personal enlightenment and growth. We, the members of the Prairie Lakes Fellowship, therefore, covenant together to:
Value the chalice flame as a symbol connecting us to each other and to people around the world gathered in sacred space and spiritual practice.
Remember the unique nature of our Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and the special place it holds in our lives.
Appreciate both the similarities and the differences among us which enrich us as a congregation.
Express our views in a manner respectful of the perspectives, experiences, and feelings of others.
Strive first for areas of agreement and consensus in planning and decision-making.
Affirm the use of democratic process when it is needed, and understand that the outcomes reached reflect the congregation as a body.
Value our own and others' efforts as volunteers, and seek frequent opportunity for honest compliments and expressions of gratitude.
Participate in Fellowship activities and interactions within a context of love, with hope for the ongoing vitality and health of the Fellowship and the joy of shared endeavor.
Turn to this document in times of calm and in times of conflict, to guide our words and actions as we strive to make real the spiritual home we envision, and to help us express our care for each other and this Fellowship.
